I want to tell you about the sort of child and family who I tend to have the most success helping so that you can quickly determine whether I will be a good fit for your child.
The clients who are the most successful in therapy with me are ones who come ready to work and understand that I’m not going to wave my magic therapy wand and have their problems disappear. They apply the knowledge and insight gained during sessions. Their parents are willing to acknowledge their own foibles and hang ups and are open to feedback. Their parents are willing to make adjustments in how they communicate with their children.
My clients appreciate my straightforward approach and that I don’t tiptoe around important issues. They are curious about themselves and are willing to work hard to make progress. They know it’s time to put in the work.
I utilize several evidence-based theoretical approaches in therapy, none of which involve a crystal ball or asking your son or daughter “how does that make you feel?” 100 times.
